Days 1, 2 & 3 - Cape Town

Arrival in the Mother City, where you are staying for three nights at a centrally located hotel in Green Point. It’s easy to get around in Cape Town, whether through Uber or the City Sightseeing Bus, so you won’t need your rental car here. Take the cable way or hike up Table Mountain, visit the V&A Waterfront or one of the numerous markets.

On the second day you are collected by Matt from Vegan Tours Cape Town for a private Cape Peninsula Tour, that includes visits to Boulders Beach (African Penguins) and Cape Point.

On the third day Matt will collect you again for a private Vegan Wine Tour, which includes visits to three different wine estates, vegan wine tasting and a delicious lunch.

Days 4 & 5 - Greyton

Your rental car will be dropped off at your hotel, and from there you leave the City behind you, venturing out into the interior of the Western Cape. The small town of Greyton is beautifully tucked against the Riviersonderend Mountain range, and its charm is reminiscent of a bygone era. This friendly town has free-roaming horses and dogs, all looked after by the residents, a high density of art galleries, and a couple of cosy little restaurants with vegan options.

You are staying at a wonderful retreat on a self-catering basis, which is perfect as all the little cafes and eateries are just a stroll away. Your lodging offers a variety of treatments and therapies upon request.

On the day off you have the rare opportunity and privilege to visit Nicola “Nicky” Vernon at Greyton Farm Animal Sanctuary, a registered non-profit and home to around 200 pigs, sheep, goats, cows, geese, chickens, peacocks, a duck as well as elderly and afflicted dogs and cats. With your booking R1,000 pp will be donated on your behalf.

Days 6 & 7 - Montagu

Today you are heading further into the mountains to Montagu, a beautiful town full of Cape Dutch monumental buildings, located in the Little Karoo (this means dry plains). Starry Starry Night is a pristine mountain wilderness eco reserve, with gorgeous trails, waterfalls and spectacular landscapes.

You sleep in their Nova StarDome, perched on a beautiful solitary koppie with no other buildings in sight, a dazzling two-bedroom 1-bathroom retreat. Spectacular views stretch into every direction you look in true 360-degree fashion, with huge windows and swing doors framing the surrounding natural landscape, mountains and fynbos.

Your stay is self-catering but includes a private evening in their wood-fired KolKol hot tub with a vegan sundowner platter, and a vegan 2-course dinner.

Days 8 & 9 - Van Wyksdorp

Heading in an Easterly direction you make a meaningful turn at Ricky’s Drift, a unique vegan farm, a close-knit community of individuals, animals, and plants that take care of each other. It’s a safe haven where animals thrive and humans embrace a vegan and chemical-free lifestyle, completely off the grid. A place of peace and healing.

Whether you’re simply curious or ready to dive into the experience, your stay here is a fantastic opportunity to immerse yourself in the world of vegan farming, discover the art of plant-based cooking, hit a hiking trail or two and connect with their beautiful animals.

Your stay at their Top House includes delicious home-cooked vegan meals for breakfast and dinner. Definitely also try their home-made breads!

Days 10, 11 & 12 - Knysna

Today our dear friend Ingrid is looking forward to welcoming you to her home here at Peace of Eden, a magical eco Vegan Forest Retreat in the heart of the Garden Route, which is a protected nature area offering adventures, beaches, lakes and forests. We are all passionate about animals, wildlife and living plant-based. Peace of Eden is Vegan Hospitality Certified.

There is lots to do and beautiful places to visit. The Knysna Heads and Lagoon, Featherbed Nature Reserve, Robberg Peninsula, Tsitsikamma National Park – spectacular areas that invite you to spend most of your time outdoors in Nature. A visit to Birds of Eden and Monkeyland – both the largest free-roaming sanctuaries in the world – should also be high on your list. But perhaps you prefer to just kick off your shoes and go for a swim in our natural pond, take a stroll into the forest, and spot the abundant and famous Knysna Loeries.

At the moment all our cottages have long-term tenants in them, but the Forest Heart Cabin across the road is a beautiful alternative.

Your stay is on a self-catering basis, but includes a Pop-Up Secret 3-Course Dinner at Peace of Eden, including vegan wine, lovingly prepared by our vegan chef and owner, Jen.

Days 13, 14, 15 & 16 - Gondwana

Lastly, like the cherry on the vegan cake, your safari!!

Gondwana Game Reserve is an 11,000-hectare (26,000 acre) private game reserve that offers a distinctive and luxurious malaria-free safari destination with free-roaming Big 5 safari animals (lion, buffalo, elephant, rhino, and leopard). Additional wildlife including eland, giraffe, hippo, cheetah and zebra can be seen on the majestic landscape with awe-inspiring views of the Langeberg and Outeniqua Mountains in every direction. Indigenous “Fynbos” (heath-type) vegetation cloaks the undulating valleys, adding vivid colour and interest to your wilderness experience.

You stay for three nights in Kwena Lodge, which is inspired by the nomadic San people. Kwena Lodge’s unique layout, design, and décor draw inspiration from the nomadic lifestyle of the San people who inhabited this area thousands of years ago, providing guests with a distinctive and culturally immersive experience.

Your stay here is inclusive of all meals and snacks, all drinks (local wines, spirits and beers) and twice daily game drives with a guide in an open 4×4 game viewer.

After the morning game drive and breakfast on day 16, you are ready to check out around 11 am. It’s a short drive to George Airport, from where you can fly back to Cape Town or Johannesburg for your connecting flight back home.
