What to expect?
Tanzania National Parks have some great Wilderness Areas for walking safaris. This safari has been designed to allow for 3 days on foot, as well as some vehicle-based game viewing, and of course you will visit Ngorongoro en-route. You will walk in a wilderness area of the Serengeti ecosystem, with armed National Parks guide and your guides, without a vehicle insight! The safari is fully backed-up, with the support vehicle going ahead of the guests and setting up camp in private areas.
After your visit to the bush it is time for some relaxation and you will fly to Zanzibar where you can enjoy the white sandy beaches, chilled cocktails and turquoise blue waters...

Day 1 -Arusha
Upon arrival at Kilimandjaro International Airport you will be transferred to your first overnight location in Tanzania in Arusha.
Since There are a large number of hotels and lodges and many people visiting we will not define a certain hotel or lodge but check according to your preferences and availability.
Day 3 - Ngorongoro to Serengeti
This morning, you head off early and descend into the Ngorongoro Crater caldera, for a jam-packed morning of game viewing. The crater normally turns up four of the Big Five with ease, including the endangered Black Rhino. Scenically it’s hard to beat the spectacular backdrop of the ‘volcanic wall’ surrounding you –it’s incredible how perfect the formation of this extinct volcano was, and it offers untold photographic opportunities. After a picnic lunch, you head toward the open Serengeti plains.
The Olduvai Gorge is a short drive off the main road between Ngorongoro and the Serengeti. The name “Olduvai” derives from “Oldupai”, which is the Masai word for the type of wild sisal that grows in the gorge. It was here that, in 1959, Dr Louis Leakey and his wife Mary discovered the skull of first Zinjanthropus Boisei, or “nutcracker man”, and then, a year later, the remains of Homo Hablis or “handy man”, regarded as mankind’s first step on the ladder of human evolution. There is a small museum and an observation platform, overlooking the gorge, where visitors can listen to an informative talk from the resident guide. If you would like to include a stop here, please let your guide know so that he can include within his timings. There is an entry fee to be paid direct, of USD 30 per person. You need to allow 1.5 -2 hours here.
Day 2 - Arusha to Ngorongoro
After breakfast and a briefing at your Arusha hotel, you will finally depart on your safari to Ngorongoro. The drive is interesting and varied –a mix of farmlands, local villages and some spectacular scenery as you drive to the Ngorongoro highlands. Your driver will pause to give you the opportunitiy to admire the views of Lake Manyara from the escarpment above, then continue to the farming region of Karatu and on to the Ngorongoro Conservation area.
You will overnight at a lodge on the crater rim, and this afternoon you will enjoy a walk with a local Masai guide in the area. The Ngorongoro Crater, a UNSECO World Heritage site, is the largest unbroken caldera in the world. Surrounded by very steep walls rising 610 metres from the crater floor, this natural amphitheatre measures 19.2 kilometres in diameter and 304²km in area. It is home to up to 30,000 animals, almost half being wildebeest and zebra. Buffalo, elephant, hippo, hyena, jackal, lion, ostrich, serval, warthog, bushbuck, eland, hartebeest, reedbuck, waterbuck and huge herds of both Thomson’s and Grant’s gazelle are easily seen on the crater floor. Thanks to anti-poaching patrols, the crater is now one of the few places in East Africa where visitors can seeblack rhino, with the number now approaching 25. Leopard may occasionally be seen in the treesof the forest surrounding the crater while cheetah are also present. Countless flamingo form a pink blanket over the soda lakes while more than 100 species of birdsnot found in the Serengeti have been spotted.

Day 4 - Serengeti NP
The Serengeti National Park is arguably the best known wildlife sanctuary in the world. Serengeti means “endless plains” in the Masai language, and within its boundaries are more than three million large mammals. About 35 species of plains animals may be seen here, including the so-called “big seven” –buffalo, elephant, lion, leopard, rhino, cheetah and African hunting dog. The black rhino population of the Serengeti has developed well in recent years thanks to constant surveillance. Other animals frequently seen in the Serengeti include baboon, caracal, civet, bat-eared fox, genet, giraffe, hippo, honey badger, hyrax, mongoose, ostrich, serval, both Grant’s and Thomson’s gazelle, vervet monkey and some 20 types of antelope including hartebeest, impala, kudu, reedbuck, roan, topi, waterbuck and the much smaller dik dik, duiker, klipspringer and oribi. There is, of course, also a profusion of birdlife. Over 500 species including bustards, cranes, eagles, herons, owls, storks, vultures and the bizarre, long-legged secretary birds.

Days 9, 10, 11, 12 & 13 - Zanzibar
After 8 exhausting days it is time to enjoy white sandy beaches, delicious seafood and total relaxation for 5 nights. Upon arrival in Zanzibar your shuttle will pick you up and bring you to Breezes Beach Club on the West Coast of the island.
You will stay here on a half board basis in a standard room. If you would like to have a more luxurious options just let us know, we will have the right option for you.
Days 5 & 6 - Serengeti Walking
Begin your walking safari in the Serengeti. You will be accompanied by a trained, armed Parks guide as well as your guide. The daily walks are not long -about 4 to 5 hours a day -and all your supplies, tents, etc are moved forward by your camp crew. You only need to carry your daily water and snacks. All meals and bottled water are supplied. Overnight in a lightweight camp which consists of 2.5m by 2.5m walk-in dome tents, mess tent, bedding and mattresses, chairs, bush toilet and shower, fridge/ cool box, and camp lighting.
Typically, you will have an early light breakfast... and start your walk before it gets too hot, and also to maximize the opportunity of seeing game when it’s a little more active, and with good photographic opportunities (ie lighting!). We aim to walk about 3-4 hours in the morning maximum, before arriving at the camp and enjoying a brunch/lunch. The afternoon will be spent relaxing at the camp, before heading off for a shorter walk in the vicinity of the camp. Returning for sundowners and dinner/overnight. Two nights/three days are spent on this walk –unfolding the ‘smaller species’ and enjoying the solitude that a walking safari offer
Day 7 - Serengeti NP
This morning, enjoy a final morning walk in the cool of the day. You then meet the vehicle for your transfer back to your camp in time for lunch. In the afternoon you can enjoy a further game drive in the Serengeti.

Day 8 - Back to Arusha
Transfer to Seronera airstrip for your morning scenic flight back to Arusha. The flight is optional but highly recommended. It’s a very long road transfer back to Arusha and scenic flights are always a fantastic way to end a safari. Once again you will spend a night here before fliying onwards to Zanzibar the next day.

Day 14 - Back Home
Today your holiday with us will end with a memory card full of stunning pictures and a mind full of new impressions. Your shuttle will bring you back to Zanzibar airport from where you will fly to Arusha and back home.
