What to expect?
This self-drive tour starts in Windhoek and ends in Kasane. It will take you through the desert, to the coast, to the famous Etosha National Park, into the legendary Caprivi Strip to eventually end in Kasane on the majestic Chobe River with the possibility to visit the world famous Victoria Falls.
You will stay on main roads so 4x4 driving skills are not needed for this itinerary. Below you will find a map which will help you situate your destinations.

Your African experience starts here
Day 1 - Windhoek
On arrival at the airport you make your way to the car rental terminal to collect you rental car which is a 2x4 (Mitshubishi ASX or similar) with high ground clearance. From here you will have the possibility to explore Windhoek, stock up for your holiday or simply rest and charge your batteries from the exhausting flight.
Your accommodation lies only 1,2 km from the city centre and offers stunning views over the city bowl. There are restaurants and shops nearby so no need to plan on long drives this day. A visit to Joe's Beer House might be a great choice to be warmly welcomed to Namibia Breakfast the next morning is included.
Days 4 & 5 - Swakopmund
After 2 days in the desert you will drive to the coast in about 5 hours. Your next stop is Swakopmund which is a dive into the colonial past of Namibia with a number of German bars and restaurants.
Who wouldn't want to eat "Sauerkraut" in Africa? Apart from that Swakopmund is know to be the action capital of Namibia where you can do more quad biking, sandboarding or sky diving with a certainly unique view! You will spend 2 nights at the same guesthous with breakfast included.
Days 2 & 3 - Sossusvlei
You make your way down South to the world famous dunes of Sossusvlei with its highest reaching up to 380 m height. You will spend two nights with breakfast included at your accommodation.
You may explore the desert on your own or book some activities like quad biking, walking tours, hot air ballooning and many more right at lodge. The activity not to miss is certainly the stargazing which is as well informative as fascinating.

Day 6 - Twyfelfontein
Heading further up North you will have a stop in Tywfelfontein to enjoy one of Namibia's best views. Breakfast is once more included and this is the perfect place to recharge your batteries before going to Etosha National Park.

Days 12, 13 & 14 - Chobe NP
Today you will leave Namibia after seeing the desert, the coast, the mountains, the Etosha salpans and the Caprivi Strip and reach your last destination Chobe National Park in Botswana. You will spend 3 nights in Chobe Safari Lodge which is located close to the entrance gate to the park. You may as well explore Chobe by yourself or book guided activities and boat cruises right at the lodge. No meals are included but the filling buffets are certainly a great option for breakfast and dinner.
The lodge also offers guided tours to the legendary Victoria Falls which is certainly a must since it's only one hour away and a great way to end your holiday.
Day 9 - Oudtshoorn
From Robertson you drive for about 4 hours along the famously beautiful Route 62 to Oudtshoorn, which is also known as the capital of the Karoo. This region is famous for its Ostrich farms and the Cango Caves, but what makes your accommodation a must is their unique Meerkat Tour, which you will need to book a few days before you arrive.
You meet up with their guide at sunrise, and with a camping chair and a coffee you head out to the Meerkats' burrows on the farm, and you watch them come out of their burrows and go about their energetic business. The Meerkats are habituated, which means they are used to people, but they are never fed or touched. Truly a unique opportunity to see these funny and resourceful creatures in their natural habitat.
Days 7, 8 & 9 - Etosha NP
After a relaxing stop you will continue for abour 3,5 hours and finally arrive at Namibia's best spot for extensive game viewing, Etosha National Park. You may explore the park on your own or book guided safaris at the camps. You will stay at 3 different camps and the first will be Okaukuejo where you will overnight in a waterhole chalet with breakfast included.
Form Okaukuejo you will drive to Halali which will be a game drive of its own since you will not leave the park. Breakfast is also included there and guided activities can also be booked in the camp.
On your last day you will make your way to Namutoni to see another part of Etosha. Breakfast is included as well.
Day 10 - Rundu
After 3 days of plenty game viewsing activities you will head eastwards into the famous Caprivi strip, a location which is less known than other areas but most people who have been there are absolutely amazed by the riverine sceneries, the colourflu birdlife and the numerous mammal sightings.
At your lodge you can book guided boat excursions or fishing trips to catch the might tiger fish. You will spend one night in Rundu with breakfast included.

Day 11 - Kwando
From Rundu you will continue direction East in the Caprivi Strip and after about 6 hours you reach Kwando which once more is nestled along the shores of the mighty Zambezi.
Here once more you may book sunset cruises, game viewing cruises or game drives and make sure you get the best out of the stunning landscapes. Your stay includes breakfast.

Day 15 - Back Home
Today you will drop off your rental car at Kasane Airport from where you will fly to Johannesburg or Windhoek to go back home or to your next destination.
