Today you will cross the border from South Africa into Swaziland and reaching your destination. Your accommodation will be the same for all 5 nights and the lodge is beautifully situated and offers great hospitality with all you need to recover from the challenges you will face daily.
Today is the first day and the day is action-packed! After breakfast you will make your way to the river where you will get a thorough safety briefing and the opportunity practicing technique on
flat water. You will paddle by yourself and carry your own boats on portages and you must be ready for vigorous activity. After the first 1 to 1 1/2 hours of fairly gentle rafting the real
challenge starts and will carry on for the next hour thereafter. A total of 7 km of river will be covered before getting back on land for a lunch picnic to regain some strength for the afternoon
After lunch it is time for abseiling or tubing on a cliff alongside waterfalls. This involves learning basic rope-work skills and then descending the cliff by means of a figure-8 apparatus. The
activity is controlled by a guide using a safety line. There are exciting cliff jump and rapp-jumping options for adrenaline junkies!
The trip ends with sundowner drinks and light snacks on the riverbank before you head back to the lodge.
Today is the day for some mountain biking paired with cultural experiences and wildlife spotting which probably makes it a one of a kind experience of its own. Early morning you meet to test
bikes, adjust seats, fit helmets and just get ready to roll.
Your cycling will start with a relaxed ride of around 1 hour past a typical village to the entrance of the Mlilwane Wildlife Sanctuary. Here you will enjoy game viewing on dirt tracks, special
cycle trails though trees and general game viewing with good chances of seeing zebras, wildebeest, hippos and crocodiles amongst others from your bicycle. Before lunch you will have the chance of
dipping into a camp's swimming pool or recovering a bit in a warm spring. Lunch is not included but there are restaurants and local villages which offer a large variety of food at your
After a few stops in a village to soak up typical local culture you will continue to Mantenga Nature Reserve to visit the Swazi Cultural Village - a living museum. You will be taken on a tour
through the village and enjoy a traditional dancing display before a dip in a river below a waterfall is the last adventure for the day.
Hereafter you will return you bike before going back to your lodge.
Canopy Touring is one of Swaziland's newest adventure activities and is rated as one on the best in Southern Africa. The backdrop of Malolotja Nature Reserve and its rolling wilderness of mountain peaks is juxtaposed against the intimate exploration of the Majolomba River Gorge. It consists of vivid rock formations, rich montane vegetation and active bird life can only be accessed from above.
Attached to a system of cableways and platforms and gliding between tall forest trees and from cliff-face to cliff, your expeerience may seem somewhat unreal or dreamlike but this activity will certainly be an outing that will never be forgotten. The whole trip will take between 3 and 4 hours to complete.
After a light lunch you will return to the lodge to recover a bit before the second activity of the day will start in the late afternoon. You will be offered the opportunity to get underground in true speleological fashion. Headlamps, helmets, caving suits, muddy passages, bats and lots of total blackness are all part of the experience - ideal for first timers with shortage of challenges for experts too. Experienced local guides make each trip entertaining whilst ensuring that well-tested operating procedures mitigate against risks. The trip will take about 2 hours and the deepest distance traveled is 80 m below the surface and the total distance traveled underground is 800 m. Belly crawls, body jams, crouches and guide-assisted scrambles are to be expected.
On returning to the surface a quick chocolate snack replenishes energy levels for the 30 minutes walk back to the base station. Thereafter this evening departure includes an informal dinner, refreshments and a shooting dip in a nearby hot spring. After this you return to your lodge for a well deserved night's rest.
After 4 days of exciting activities it is time to give your body a well-deserved rest and your lodge offers all you need to recharge your batteries.
Today you will continue your journey to one of the many destinations that Southern Africa has to offer or home from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg.
