Hazyview Adventure

This package takes you to the scenic beauties of Hazyview close to Kruger National Park. You will drive by yourself to your accommodation which will be the same for all nights, all activities are organized, supervised and performed by professionals which will ensure your safety at all times.

Day 1: Arriving in Hazyview

Today you will arrive in Hazyview and your accommodation is located on a private farm. Being a small lodge and owner-run, the atmosphere is very informal and all the meals are catered for. They have a small pub as well wich attracts a lot of locals for a game of rugby or just come and say "howzit"! All the rooms overlook the farmlands to the east with breathtaking early morning sunrise scenes from the balcony. You room will have en-suite bathroom, a TV with DSTV channels and coffee & tea making facilities.


Day 2: Mountain Biking & Geckoing

After a good night's sleep and breakfast it is time to get started with some action! You will collect your bikes, helmets etc at any time from the office of the local adventure operator and anjoy a variety of spectacular Mountain Bike Trails. Located in the Sabie River Valley between Hazyview and Sabie the trails meander through natural forests, blue gum plantations, orchards and cross the Mac Mac and Sabie Rivers several times. There is no time limit on the rental so you have them for the day!

To get the day action packed you will also do some Geckoing (departure time in winter is 11:00 am, in summer 08:30 am or 13:00 pm). A Gecko is a white water tube that is oval shaped and it has a floor. Once you get to the river you will be briefed by the trip leader on safety aspects as well as how to handle your Gecko. You will be demonstrated how to steer the Gecko, how to prevent from falling out, what to do when you fall out and what not to. Now you are ready to tackle the river, float through some calm pools, then the first small rapids and the "One Time Rapid". Here is where the action starts! After this it is time for the jumps, First a 2 m jump and then an 8 m jump. At the end of the trip you will have to walk out of the gorge back to the vehicle which will take you back to the Adventure Center.

Day 3: Abseiling & Quad Biking

Abseiling is another activity for a thrill seeker. Face your fears and step over the edge into oblivion...Abseiling is commonly practised in the world over as a method of descending rope in a safe and controlled manner. Our Abseil experience takes place at Makulhu, a 27 m high granite rock face overlooking Kruger National Park. Tis towering boulder is the ideal abseil venue with an easy hike up the back of the cliff and a vertical drop at the front. Great rock formations and breathtaking views add spice to this adrenaline-packed experience.

After the Abseiling in the morning you will get on Quad-Bikes in the afternoon and this adventure will exceed alll your expectations. Trails run through the most scenic Sabie River Valley winding along the Sabana River, indigenous vegetation, mountain hills and other streams. the tracks vary from technical to very easy so there is something for the expert as well as the beginner.

Day 4: Elephant Whispers

Situated at the Sandford Conservancy on the banks of the Sabie River in Hazyview, Elephant Whispers offers an elephant experience of a lifetime which will leave you with a renewed respect and admiration for these gentle giants of Africa. Witness their intelligence, compassionate nature and the sheer delight the elephants experience when interacting with their human counterparts. The elephant interaction offers you the opportunity to feel their constantly curious trunks, touch their rough skin, exchange trunk greetings and offer tasty treats while learning about their behavior and history from the elephant handlers. An elephant back ride offers a different perspective, embark on a journey which was once a privilege reserved only for kings!

This experience for both young and old introduces you to Elephant Whispers' six tamed elephants who were rescued from planned game reserve culling operations by Elephants For Africa Forever (EFAF). As ambassadors for their species this herd has an important conservation message to share.

Day 5: Leaving Hazyview

Today you will continue your journey to one of the many destinations that Southern Africa has to offer or home from OR Tambo Airport in Johannesburg.
