This premium self-drive tour takes you to different Game Reserves onto the quest of the famous Big 5 before heading towards the Mother city, wine region and the stunning coastline of the Garden Route. No 4x4 driving skills are required as all safari activities are included in the various lodges. Make sure you have your cameras ready at all times as the sightings will be spectacular!
Days 1, 2 & 3 : Timbavati
Upon arrival in Johannesburg International Airport you collect your rental car and drive to Timbavati Game Reserve where you will make your way to the stunning Tanda Tula Safari Camp. Upon arrival you will immediately get a feeling what life in the bush is like. All safari activities, 3 meals daily, local brand alcoholic drinks, all soft drinks and laundry is included so you can focus on the bush and its inhabitants.
Days 4, 5 & 6 : Sabi Sands Game Reserve
After 3 days in the world famous Timbavati it is time to explore another renowned game reserve with is also part of Greater Kruger National Park, Sabi Sand Game Reserve.
The world-renowned Kruger National Park offers a wildlife experience that ranks with the best in Africa. Established in 1898 to protect the wildlife of the South African Lowveld, this national park of over 2 million hectares is unrivaled in the diversity of its life forms and a world leader in advanced environmental management techniques and policies. Truly the flagship of the South African National Parks, Kruger is home to an impressive number of species: 336 trees, 49 fish, 34 amphibians, 114 reptiles, 507 birds and 147 mammals. Man's interaction with the Lowveld environment over many centuries - from bushman rock paintings to majestic archaeological sites like Masorini and Thulamela - is very evident in the Kruger National Park. These treasures represent the cultures, persons and events that played a role in the history of the Kruger National Park and are conserved along with the park's natural assets.
Your Lodge is a charming & extraordinarily beautiful luxury lodge, with 9 private suites (each with plunge pool, deck and lounge) tucked into the trees along the Sabie River in the Kruger National Park. Whether you choose to spend time at your private plunge pool overlooking the river, reclining on the couch in your lounge, lazing on your bed with a good book, or soaking in a bubble bath, you will not be cheated of the breathtaking panorama. You will head into the bush twice a day in the company of their professional guides and trackers. You’ll discover another thriving world where we are merely observers. You spend three nights in absolute luxury and peace including all meals, guided game drives in open Land Rovers, snacks, teas/coffees and local drinks (extra are premium brand drinks).
Days 7 & 8 : Sabie
Today you will leave the bush and go to Sabie. Here you overnight in a Luxury Chalet at a stunning lodge, which overlooks the Sabie River Valley. The beautiful River View Luxury Chalets boast a king-size bed draped with a mosquito net and has a large stone bath, waterfall shower and fireplace. The sliding screen and glass doors lead onto a private wooden stilted deck with a plunge pool, from which you can take in the awe-inspiring view. Each chalet is private and surrounded by unspoilt indigenous bush and is perfectly situated for a romantic, relaxing & memorable stay. A romantic dinner and a scrumptious breakfast are included.
Days 9, 10 & 11 : Cape Town
After 8 nights in the bush you will drive back to Johannesburg International Airport where you return your first rental car and board the plane for an inland flight to Cape Town. Upon arrival you once again collect your rental car and drive to Camps Bay, the St Tropez of South Africa, where your lodging is situated right at the beachfront with breakfast included.
From your hotel you can explore the many attractions Cape Town has to offer, from historical to culinary and from relaxing at the beach to extreme sports the Mother City really offers everything.
Days 12 & 13 : Franschhoek
The Cape Winelands are your next destination where a true treat is waiting for you in Franschhoek. Enjoy wine tasting or simply relax at the outstanding facilities or the spa your accommodation has to offer. 3 meals a day are included in your stay, so are local drinks and laundry.
Hidden away in the Langeberg Mountains, your accommodation offers a perfect hideaway and a base for a few beautiful hikes. It will take you about 4 hours to get there. Still surrounded by wine farms, your accommodation has its own wine shop where you can still do some wine tasting (We recommend this after hiking)!
Days 14 : Hermanus
Your last full day in South Africa has come and you will finish in style! Right on the coast lies your accommodation which is not only stunning and offers a stunning evening menu but also is closeby to all the attractions. If it's the whaling season you might be able to spot them right from the lodge!
Days 15 : Back to Cape Town
The day has come...after breakfast you drive back to Cape Town International Airport where you drop off your rental car and fly back home.
